Instructional Design Process
Helping to bridge the learning gap through high quality research-based learning experiences.
Theory and Methodology
I tend to have a blended approach to content creation and design. I blend the elegance of inquiry-based learning, the time-tested wisdom of Merrill’s Principles of Instruction, the personal touch of individualized instruction, and the systematic rigor of the ADDIE model.
Through the ADDIE model, every phase, from analysis to evaluation, is meticulously planned and executed, ensuring a seamless and effective learning experience.
Together, these principles create a dynamic and effective approach to instructional design, one that not only imparts knowledge but ignites a lifelong passion for learning.
Design Process
1. Identify the Problem
Work with stakeholders and SMEs to identify the problem and training need and set the learning objectives.
2. Analyze Learner
Identify the target audience: age, prior knowledge, motivations, and learning preferences.
3. Needs Assessment
Identify what technology, resources, knowledge, and content are required.
3. Outline/ Storyboard
Determine the structure of the course – length, modules, topics, activities, and assessments.
5. Design
Create content, resources, interactive activities, and assessments, catering to different learning styles. Collaborative activities should be built in via forums, discussions, or group work.
6. Integrate
Use previously identified technology to develop and curate the course. Set up discussion boards, assessments, and import into a Learning Management System (LMS).
7. Implement
Launch the course. Orient users, facilitators, and/or students with the course. Provide support to facilitators/users/ students as needed.
8. Evaluate and Revise
Evaluate the effectiveness in the course. Throughout the entire process, reflect and revise. Use formative assessment and feedback to revise in real-time.
